Communities of women in the Mekong Delta Region of Southeast Asia have improved water governance, preservation, and decision making around the waterways that form the area, according to a report from International Rivers Network and Oxfam. Women have faced barriers to acknowledgment of their leadership and participation as they advocate for and achieve better governance, social, and environmental outcomes for the rivers in the Mekong region. The MacArthur-supported report highlights the progress the women have made and the good practices for water protection efforts that their leadership has spurred.
