Green jobs

The clean economy — a sector that produces goods and services with an environmental benefit — encompasses some 2.7 million jobs in establishments spread across a diverse group of industries, according to a national and regional green jobs assessment by MacArthur grantee the Brookings Institution and its partners. After developing and analyzing a detailed database of employment statistics pertaining to clean economy industries in the U.S., results showed that this manufacturing and export intensive economy outperformed the nation during the recession, and offered more opportunities and better pay for low- and middle-skilled workers than the national economy as a whole.
