States Continue to Feel Recession's Impact

While state finances are slowly recovering, large fiscal problems remain as 42 states and the District of Columbia have closed or are working to close $103 billion in shortfalls for fiscal year 2012 with little federal aid available, according to a survey of state fiscal conditions by MacArthur grantee the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
