Policy Research

Through an exploration of case studies around the world, a report by The GovLab at New York University analyzes effective open data approaches and programs. The findings in the report build on work by the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Opening Governance on how open data projects can make governments more accountable and efficient and spur innovation in addressing social challenges. The report identifies risks and benefits associated with open data projects, and tactics to help make them work, such as organizational partnerships and collaborations around sharing data.
