Inequality is a choice, not an inevitable byproduct of technology and globalization, according to a report by the Roosevelt Institute, recipient of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. The report highlights the link between the rising fortunes of America’s wealthiest citizens and increasing insecurity for the rest of the country, and puts forth an agenda to help ameliorate inequality. The report, which combines narrative history and policy platform, explores goals including empowering workers, making full employment the goal, and expanding access to labor markets and opportunities for advancement.
