A brief from the Pew-MacArthur Results First Initiative reviews state laws that support data-driven decision-making and identifies thematic approaches to promoting data-driven program choices. The approaches include providing incentives for the use of evidence- and research-based programs, restricting funding of programs show to be ineffective, and allocating funding to evidence- or research-based programs.
