Decarbonizing Transit with E-Buses

Pune, India has one of the largest e-bus fleets in India, which is essential to decarbonizing public transit. Pune is on track to have 25 percent of its fleet be electric by 2025—three years ahead of schedule for the government targets. RMI India shared a case study of Pune’s process and operations to help others learn from its coordination strategies, policy support, business models, contracting terms, and infrastructure planning. Other regions can apply lessons from Pune’s implementation to work toward the public health, economic, and environmental benefits.
