Public Housing Residents Train Green

Twenty-two Chicago public housing residents are learning basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills through a pilot program to prepare them for more advanced green job training. The program also targets reading and math skills, teaches participants about the green construction industry, and prepares them for the LEED Green Associates exam. The Partnership for New Communities, a Foundation grantee, was one of a handful of organizations nationwide to win a competitive grant from Living Cities to launch the program.
