The agency responsible for implementing health policies in Ghana has taken steps to improve access to the drug misoprostol that stand to benefit the reproductive health of Ghanaian women. Due in part to MacArthur-supported research by the Columbia University Earth Institute and an evaluation by Public Health Institute, the Ghana Health Service has eased regulations around access to misoprostol and placed it on the essential drug list, ensuring it will be covered by national health insurance programs.
