Mexico midwifery 200

More than 120 indigenous midwives from 19 municipalities in Chiapas banded together to form the Nich Ixim Corn Flower Midwifery Movement, which will promote the recognition of midwifery by Chiapas state. The group will gather midwives across the state to address challenges and needs in the midwifery field, convene meetings with health authorities, and foster collaboration with other midwifery groups across Mexico. The formation of the group was supported by MacArthur grantees Formacion y Capacitacion, Sakil Nichim, and the Mexico National Safe Motherhood Committee, in partnership with other local organizations.
