California Housing

MacArthur is committing $10 million to a recently announced partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the State of California to support and expand innovative energy efficiency financing programs designed to meet the challenges and needs of multifamily housing. The partnership commits impact investment funds from the Foundation’s recent $25 million energy efficiency investment to support the new efforts in California. The investments will help reduce the carbon footprints of some of the state’s least energy efficient buildings and make housing more affordable for low-income families, seniors, and individuals with special needs, such as veterans and the formerly homeless. MacArthur has a 30-year track record as a leading impact investor, having provided program-related investments totaling $400 million to more than 200 organizations worldwide since 1986.
