Sixteen international foundations are collaborating on climate solutions and committing $459 million in funding for sustainable land use. In a statement released before the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit, the foundations, including MacArthur, prioritize forest conservation, as well as sustainable farming and land use that supports rural livelihoods and upholds the rights of indigenous peoples. The foundations hope actions will inspire further investment in sustainable, rights-based land use that mitigates the impact of climate change. For our part, MacArthur has committed $45 million in grants and impact investments over 10 years to Nia Tero to secure indigenous guardianship of critical ecosystems.
