Bringing Culture-Specific Juvenile Justice Programs to Tribal Communities

Juvenile justice advocates at the University of Washington, part of MacArthur’s Models for Change juvenile justice reform initiative, are bringing evidence-based practices like better juvenile delinquency codes and remote legal representation to underserved Native American communities.  Using a “cultural enhancement model,” which tailors programs to the specific needs of individual cultures, a group of community members will guide program rollouts at each tribe and then make adjustments to those programs six months into their implementation.
