Washington State University’s Division of Governmental Studies and Services has been a valued partner in Washington Models for Change, using its social science expertise to help county model demonstration sites implement, document, and evaluate their truancy reduction and school reengagement work. These local projects have yielded promising results in addressing the needs of truant and out-of-school youth without unnecessary court processing and detention, and this grant will further the University’s efforts to sustain and spread these promising innovations statewide.
