Spokane County Juvenile Court

Spokane, Washington

Grants

2011 (1 year)
$145,000

Washington State’s Spokane County Juvenile Court has jurisdiction over multiple matters involving juveniles, and has, as one of Washington’s Models for Change demonstration sites, worked with local stakeholders to develop, test, refine, and evaluate a model approach to truancy reduction and school reengagement that successfully resolves truancy matters without unnecessary, costly court involvement and detention. The Court will use this grant to spread this model approach to other Washington jurisdictions by distributing a toolkit to help other communities adopt the program, providing training and technical assistance in such replication sites, and modifying the toolkit to reflect their experience.

2009 (2 years)

To create alternatives to formal processing and confinement for truant children as part of Washington Models for Change (over two years).

2007 (1 year 8 months)

In support of planning for systems integration and truancy reform activities as part of the Models for Change initiative in Washington.
