$500,000

The Asociación Hispano Mexicana (AHM) is a midwifery training and service center and a pioneer in providing women with natural childbirth options in a low-income urban context. With this award, the Association is training a cohort of 60 midwives and helping them and previous graduates to integrate into the public health sector in order to improve the quality of care. The project also includes improving and using the Association’s clinic for student practicum, and an in-depth study of the clinic’s results in providing quality maternal health care by midwives. The project will result in more trained midwives, new evidence, a stronger practicum training site, and a state model for integrating midwives into the public health system.
