DISTRICT NAINITAL, INDIA — Sahayog Society for Participatory Rural Development will implement a project that aims to strengthen accountability mechanisms for maternal health in India. Sahayog will conduct community-based maternal deaths and "near-miss" reviews in nine districts in four states, and use a technology platform to report maternal deaths and gaps in the delivery of maternal health services. The findings will be used to develop strategies to build greater accountability to prevent maternal death among women and to improve the quality of maternal health care.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Sahayog $400,000 between 2002 and 2015.
