Voto Latino Foundation is the 501c3 arm of Voto Latino. It is a national nonprofit committed to educating and empowering Latinx Millennials and Gen-Zers to be agents of cultural and political change. Based in Washington, D.C., Voto Latino Foundation uses social media campaigns, popular culture, grassroots organizing, and leadership development to meet Latinx youth where they are, providing them with information and resources to advocate for policy and culture change on issues that matter to them. In 2021, in response to the toll mis- and disinformation about COVID-19 has taken on the health and well-being of Latinx communities, Voto Latino Foundation added a new line of work to combat mis- and disinformation that is polarizing and isolating Latinx communities. This grant in support of general operations provides ongoing support for Voto Latino Foundation’s core programs, including its education and engagement campaigns, college campus chapters and local community outreach, leadership development Power Summits and internships, as well as for its new line of work to combat mis- and disinformation targeting Latinx communities.

It uses social media campaigns, popular culture, grassroots organizing, and leadership development to encourage Latinx youth to speak out and push for change on issues most relevant to them and their communities. This grant supports Voto Latino to conduct a public opinion survey about the financial, behavioral and political implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on Latinx communities. It will use findings to better meet the needs of Latinx communities during the pandemic.

Based in Washington, D.C., Voto Latino has built a national network of close to one million young people. It uses social media campaigns, popular culture, grassroots organizing, and leadership development to encourage Latinx youth to speak out and push for change on issues most relevant to them and their communities, such as immigrant rights, equitable access to education and health care, and the 2020 census. Voto Latino is a source of accurate and relevant information for the broader Latinx community, and it is one of the few organizations providing programming to expand Latinx representation in the technology sector. This general operating support grant enables Voto Latino to continue to grow and strengthen its network, test new approaches to amplifying the voices of Latinx youth, and build Latinx political power and leadership in the media and technology sectors.

Voto Latino is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. that works to educate and empower Latino Millennials to be agents of cultural and political change. It uses social media campaigns, popular culture, grassroots organizing, and leadership development to encourage young Latinos to participate in civic engagement activities. Voto Latino is using grant funds for three broad areas of work: 1) to enhance a social media command center designed to engage new audiences through online campaigns and cultural events; 2) to establish chapters of Voto Latino on college campuses that enable local organizing in states with large Latino populations; and 3) to design and host a leadership development Power Summit and internship program to build a new generation of Latino leaders skilled in the use of new technologies and media for social change.

Voto Latino seeks to build a stronger, more inclusive American democracy by engaging, educating and empowering Latinos to be agents of change. Since its founding in 2004, Voto Latino has reached an estimated 55 million Latino households nationwide, primarily through social media campaigns designed to engage young people on issues such as education, immigration, criminal justice, and voter rights. As Voto Latino enters its tenth year, this grant is enabling the organization to carry out strategic planning to refine its mission and increase its capacity to create more opportunities for its network of Latino millennials to voice their opinions and advocate for change on issues of concern to Latino communities. It includes support for leadership development activities, a national summit, and the creation of a rapid response team and set of tools that enable Voto Latino and its network of young people to quickly respond to relevant issues that arise in the news or through popular culture events.

Founded in 2004, Voto Latino is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower American Latinos to improve their lives through civic engagement. Its civic engagement campaigns have reached an estimated 55 million Latino households nationwide. The Digital Media and Learning initiative has had success in reaching both dominant and nonndominant youth populations, with the exception of Latino youth. This award provides continued support to Voto Latino-in collaboration with existing Foundation-supported projects-to design, develop, and implement Connected Learning curricula, assessments, and mobile applications in the areas of leadership, civic engagement, and digital literacy for Latino youth.
