Founded in 1992, Community Life Project (CLP) is one of Nigeria’s leading civil society organizations committed to promoting participatory grassroots development, community empowerment, and popular participation in governance in Nigeria. It has 25 years of experience working with communities on participatory budgeting and local governance. Through its ReclaimNaija Platform, it brings together various networks to promote citizen participation in electoral transparency and democratic accountability in Kaduna State and across the country. In this project, CLP is leveraging its community mobilization, governance, and accountability experience to track Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) spending in roughly 60 schools in Kaduna state. The project contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption by building an atmosphere of accountability, transparency and good governance.

The purpose of this grant is to stimulate the active participation of grassroots people and organizations in mandate protection and electoral transparency. The recommended grant will support the following activities: (a) producing materials and conduct training on civic education; (b) training leaders of grassroots organizations; (c) deploying election observers; and (d) providing support staff to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
