Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Foundation

The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) will educate and mobilize Pangasius producers and aquaculture supply chain stakeholders in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta to the threat of upstream dam construction. It will bring an influential set of private sector actors into the mainstream hydropower debate at a critical time. Upstream dam construction will likely alter water flow, drastically changing volume and current, decrease sediment transfer, increase erosion of critical Mekong delta areas due to changing sedimentation rates, and impact availability of Pangasius broodstock. Under this grant, SFP will convene industry on issues related to upstream hydropower development, and develop materials on those issues to inform the Pangasius industry and provide clear recommendations on policy engagement for the industry in Vietnam and their supply chain stakeholder worldwide.
