Phillips Academy (Andover) is a co-educational, independent, boarding preparatory school for grades 9/12. Andover’s new Head of School, Dr. John Palfrey, a long-time MacArthur grantee and thought leader in the digital media and learning field, is leading an effort to tap the expertise of Andover staff in developing and spreading new teaching and learning practices and tools. This grant will be used to support this new initiative--the Andover Institute--in its first year, providing faculty fellowships to develop and test new teaching practices and tools based on MacArthur’s principles of Connected Learning.
To support participation by five high-school freshmen from the Chicago public schools in the Mathematics and Science for Minority Students program.
