Established in 1989, the Nigerian Popular Theatre Alliance (NPTA), also known as Theatre for Development, is a nonprofit organization that empowers and mobilizes Nigerians for active involvement in governance and development. With a previous award, NPTA monitored the Home Grown School Feeding Program in 60 schools in Kaduna State. Building on the success of the last award, NPTA is using this final grant to establish a network of community advocates to continue to monitor the school feeding program and advocate for transparency and accountability in local governance issues. The project is expected to strengthen local accountability processes. The award contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.

Established in 1989, the Nigerian Popular Theatre Alliance is a nonprofit that empowers and mobilizes Nigerian citizens for active involvement in governance and development. This award enables the organization to track and advocate for accountability in the Home Grown School Feeding Program in 60 schools in Kaduna State. The organization trains and deploys university students and youth groups from target communities to track and document implementation of the feeding program, and uses drama and town hall meetings to educate and mobilize community actors to advocate for accountability in the program. The project contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption by building an atmosphere of accountability, transparency, and good governance.
