Established in 2010, One Earth Collective builds environmental awareness in the Chicago area. The organization produces environmental programming that inspires action, facilitates learning, and fosters inclusion to create safer communities and a healthier planet. One Earth Collective operates the Westside Environmental Justice Alliance, launched in 2024, which includes nearly 400 community-based organizations, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and local residents addressing environmental justice issues across Chicago's Westside neighborhoods. This X-Grant supports monthly convenings of the Westside Environmental Justice Alliance.
Green Community Connections is a community-based organization founded in the Oak Park and River Forest area that works collaboratively to build a resilient, environmentally sustainable community locally, and to be an environmental leader in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. This grant supports the 2017 One Earth Film Festival, which has multiple, concurrent film screenings and events around the Chicagoland area with emphasis on underserved communities. One Earth Film Festival uses the power of films and engaging post-film discussions and programs to inspire attendees to take action for a more sustainable planet. The festival has assembled a number of events in its 2017 lineup to showcase these climate change, sustainable food systems, and forest conservation.
