EDGE Funders Alliance, founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, CA, organizes within philanthropy worldwide to raise awareness and understanding of the interconnected crises threatening the future to increase resources for systemic alternatives that support justice, equity, and the well-being of the planet. As of 2022, EDGE hosts the Funders for Real Costs, Real Change project – a previous iteration of this was called the True Cost Funder Collaborative. The project is an effort to address the widespread challenge in philanthropy that undermines the ability of nonprofit organizations to adequately cover their actual costs of operations. This award supports the project's efforts to identify a set of shared, scalable solutions for funders and grantees to better assess and pay for indirect costs that nonprofit organizations incur when delivering on project grants.
Grantmakers Without Borders is a donor affiliate group dedicated to increasing funding for international social justice and environmental sustainability and to improving the practice of international grantmaking, particularly in the global south. Grantmakers without Borders provides capacity-building support to both novice and experienced international grantmakers, and a space for education, community, and collaboration among international social change grantmakers. This grant will support general operations from 2012-2014.
