Philip Goldman, President of Maestral International, explains how everyone committed to supporting children living in orphanages – well-meaning donors, orphan advocates, and other committed actors – can be brought together under the common belief that all children belong in nurturing families. He discusses some of the challenges related to convincing well-meaning donors that their resources are better spent supporting families, and that orphanages, no matter how good, are still not a replacement for a family.
