Documenting Violence Against Journalists in Mexico
March 25, 2013 | Grantee Publications | Human Rights

In its new report Double Murder: Journalists Between Violence and Impunity, MacArthur grantee Article 19 assesses violence against journalists in Mexico in 2012 and shows that threats and attacks continued, six reporters were assassinated, and no progress has been made in the cases of 16 journalists that have disappeared from 2006 to date. Article 19 has been documenting attacks against the press in Mexico since 2006 and has played a significant role in documenting and denouncing the pattern of impunity that characterizes the surge in violence against journalists.
