Mexico and Central America

A report from the Regional Migration Study Group (RMSG) tracks the history of migration trends and policy in Mexico and Central America, with a focus on Central American transit migration through Mexico. The RMSG, supported by MacArthur through grantees Migration Policy Institute and the Latin American Program/Mexico Institute of the Wilson Center, examines immigration-related issues, developments, and ideas on how to improve migrant systems. The report explores recent reforms to Mexican immigration policy that are intended to provide a more comprehensive approach to migration management, and examines Mexico’s sweeping 2011 immigration law and implementation challenges.
