Warmer weather tends to reduce economic output, and new research in India shows that on hotter days people have more trouble getting to work and are less productive at work. This has serious economic consequences as the climate warms. According to the report by grantee Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago, factories in India have 2 percent less revenue annually for each one-degree rise in global temperature. Climate control at work can mitigate the effects, but industries will need to find additional ways to adapt to a hotter world.
