Storytelling and communications can help drive civic engagement both within ethnic communities and foster connections between those communities and the broader public, suggests a report from the Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Civic Engagement Fund. While AAPI groups tend to have low capacity for communications strategies, it is essential for funders and organizations to prioritize sharing communications in a variety of platforms and languages to reach the entire community. According to the MacArthur-supported AAPI Civic Engagement Fund, sharing more AAPI voices, who are typically underrepresented in media, encourages broader civic engagement, that in turn can foster lasting social and political change.
