The 2020 rental housing report from Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies finds that rents are increasing faster than income. The report indicates that housing markets are not meeting the needs of low-income renters, and the booming construction industry is focused on the high end of the rental market exacerbating inequality. The Joint Center for Housing Studies, a grantee, includes interactive data visualizations that explore the changes in the market by region, time, and demographics.
