A report from the Regional Migration Study Group, a partnership between MacArthur grantees Migration Policy Institute and the Latin American Program/Mexico Institute of the Wilson Center, highlights the changing needs of the Mexican and Central American manufacturing economy, which currently employs 17 percent of the regional work force. Researchers state that by investing in human capital and domestic business development these countries will enhance individual livelihoods and their competitiveness as a region in a global marketplace. The report also addresses the development of human capital in American manufacturing and the significant contributions of Latino immigrants to the sector.
