As young people age out of foster care, group homes, or incarceration, they are at high risk for homelessness and justice system involvement. MacArthur supported a report on the cycles of housing instability in Missoula County, MT as part of its Just Home Project, which showed the need for housing for young adults, especially if they experienced foster care or contact with the justice system. It also showed Native Americans and other marginalized groups experience more housing challenges than other groups. The data from the report is inspiring new programs to break the cycle of housing instability in Missoula.
