A cap and trade program in Surat, India is projected to reduce the cost of addressing particulate pollution, according to a report from Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC). The first emissions trading scheme for particulate pollution, the market-based program helps ensure compliance with regulations. MacArthur grantee EPIC suggests the approach could protect profits while it reduces particulates, which are the pollution that poses the most risk to human health.
