The Environmental Law and Policy Center’s (ELPC) Rising Waters Report highlights areas along Lake Michigan with the highest risk of flooding and erosion due to climate change. Lake Michigan can carry toxic contaminants from former industrial areas to local lakeside communities, an extreme concern for the potential of floods and erosion. In the report, grantee ELPC provides federal, state, and local recommendations to minimize the severity of environmental and community damage through policy change and financial investments. ELPC urges implementing infrastructure redesign and preventative protection.
