Over two years, a pilot program that delivered groceries to residents with disabilities in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood has served 176 neighbors 7,500 boxes of food. Vivery Community led the pilot and partnered with local food pantries, produce vendors, and a neighborhood-based delivery service. The model offered dignified and community-driven food delivery to people who face both cost and physical barriers to food access.

Vivery Community published a MacArthur-supported evaluation of the pilot program showing its impact. They found 22 percent of participants were no longer food insecure after joining the program, 59 percent found it easier to access healthy food through the program, and 43 percent experienced lower stress around food access.
