The Cook County Assessor’s Office has implemented a new residential assessment model to more accurately assess the value of homes. The technique was developed to address “regressivity,” which results in higher-priced homes being under-assessed. The implementation of the model, which was supported by MacArthur, has improved assessment accuracy by 50 percent and measures of equity by 25 percent. The process is also more customized for individual neighborhoods.
