Majority of Americans Support International Nuclear Treaties

A survey of American’s views on nuclear policy found a majority of registered voters support strengthening nuclear treaties, including those that ban testing. These sentiments were true irrespective of party affiliation, suggesting opportunities for bipartisan cooperation on the issue. The University of Maryland Center for International and Security Studies, a grantee, conducted the survey by briefing participants on the issues and asking them to consider policymaking decisions.
