A study on Political Accountability and the 2023 General Election in Nigeria examined vote trading and candidates’ spending, and trust in political process. The report comes from 17 civil society organizations in the Joinbodi cohort supported by MacArthur, including Women's Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) and the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation. The Joinbodi cohort shares information and promotes civic participation and collective action to reduce corruption and enhance the fairness of elections. The report looked at issues of corruption going into the 2023 election through interviews and focus groups that included CSOs, political representatives, vulnerable groups, and others in four Nigerian states. It has renewed relevance as the incoming executives and assembly members take office. With this report and continued work for transparency, the Joinbodi cohort aims to hold elected officials accountable to their voters.
