Though it is responsible for over 70 percent of the world’s fresh water use, the food industry has taken insufficient action to address risks due to climate change. An interactive report, Feeding Ourselves Thirsty, from Ceres, evaluates leading food companies and found that less than half have financial support for resilient farming practices, and the meat industry, which is the most vulnerable to water risk, is least likely to manage its risk. Ceres, a grantee, cites improvements the industry has made, improvements it needs, and recommendations for investors to prioritize water risk.
