Eleven organizations co-authored an open letter—published as a full-page ad in the New York Times—calling on corporations to take leadership on climate policy within their organizations and at a national, subnational, and sector level. Including MacArthur grantees Ceres, Union of Concerned Scientists, World Resources Institute, CDP, The Nature Conservancy, and Environmental Defense Fund, the authors highlight the cost of climate change, which will grow to the trillions of dollars, and the risk to business operations, shareholders, customers, and communities. The letter recommends policy advocacy and spending to achieve a goal of net-zero emissions in the U.S. and other industrialized nations by 2050.
