Lessons from the public health response to COVID-19 can help us respond to other kinds of emergencies, beyond health. The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) shared a paper on what we can learn for radiation and nuclear emergency response. NTI, a grantee, found coordination between local, state, and federal partners is essential to an effective response, including for accurate and timely communication that accounts for challenges from dis and misinformation. Public health infrastructure can also augment countermeasures for public radiation emergencies.
