One year after Mexico's 2018 presidential elections, experts gathered at the Rule of Law in Mexico: Challenges and Opportunities in the Time of AMLO to discuss next steps on issues of justice, human rights, and anti-corruption. Panelists discussed delays in the National Anti-Corruption System, new reforms like the creation of the National Guard, and President López Obrador's plan to reform the legal system—including the Code of Criminal Procedures and the Organic Law of the National Prosecutor's Office. The event featured MacArthur grantees Fundación para la Justicia y el Estado Democrático de Derecho (Foundation for Justice and the Democratic State of Law), Due Process of Law Foundation, and Washington Office on Latin America.
