Street Fight, a co-production of ITVS and P.O.V., both MacArthur grantees, has recently been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film, by Marshall Curry, is about the turbulent campaign of Cory Booker, a 32-year old Rhodes Scholar/Yale Law graduate running for mayor of Newark, N.J. against Sharpe James, the four-term incumbent twice his age. Street Fight had its national broadcast premiere in July 2005 during the 18th season P.O.V., the PBS series for independent documentaries.  The 78th Annual Academy Awards presentation will broadcast live on Sunday, March 5, 2006.
