Animated shorts based on the public radio project StoryCorps will be featured on P.O.V. starting this month. StoryCorps — the brainchild of MacArthur Fellow David Isay — has collected and archived more than 30,000 interviews since 2003, illustrating contemporary history and important issues by documenting the lives of ordinary Americans. While recordings of the interviews are kept in the collection of the Library of Congress, these animations mark the move of StoryCorps from audio to video. P.O.V., a MacArthur grantee since its inception in 1987, is a television show and website featuring documentary films that tell important personal stories.
