Private, public, and non-profit groups came together through the MacArthur-supported Preservation Compact to rehabilitate Chicago’s historic Pullman Wheelworks apartment building, helping to preserve affordable rental housing on the city’s South Side. Red Mortgage Capital financed the mortgage on the building through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, while Foundation grantees Mercy Housing Lakefront and the National Housing Trust are sponsoring the rehab project.
