The MLK Chicago Living Memorial is the first public memorial in the city to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It was unveiled 50 years to the day after Dr. King, Jr. led 700 civil rights activists, religious leaders, and courageous community members from across the city to Marquette Park in support of fair housing, as part of the Chicago Freedom Movement. Three beautifully sculpted piers form the memorial, which was created with support from over 40 local organizations, including MacArthur.
