Nigeria’s Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) provides for more transparency and accountability, but it requires awareness and action to give it teeth to counter corruption. The ACJA includes measures to protect witnesses, provide access to information, prosecute crimes of corruption, and support human rights. Legal Defence and Assistance Project and the Nigerian Bar Association are partnering to train lawyers in required Continuing Professional Development on enacting the ACJA. With technical support from Centre for Socio-Legal Studies and JURITRUST Centre for Socio-Legal Research & Documentation, the trainings can help to reduce corruption and improve justice procedures.
