Ten creative and dynamic leaders received the 2022 Leaders for a New Chicago award. They use arts to empower and create opportunity; they organize to stand up for justice for people with disabilities, Black communities, immigrants, and Indigenous people; they shape inclusive stories and narratives.

Each leader receives a no-strings-attached award of $25,000 and their affiliated organization receives a matching $25,000 general operating grant. MacArthur and the Field Foundation partner to support the award to recognize leaders with a diversity of religion, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, geographies, and income levels. Now in its fourth year, the awards recognize the accomplishments of social change agents who work to shape Chicago’s future.
