Techsploitation

An investigation launched by The Center for Investigative Reporting, a MacArthur grantee, reveals abuses faced by many East Asian immigrants who come to the United States through the H-1B federal temporary work visa program to work in the tech sector. Techsploitation uses multiple text stories, video, and a graphic novel, to detail how staffing firms, known as “body shops,” are bonding workers to their jobs with threats of deportation, wage skimming, and expensive lawsuits.
