ReflectSunlight_200

A committee of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will investigate approaches to reflecting sunlight as a climate intervention to cool earth. The group will address governance and research needs simultaneously, building on a 2015 report on sunlight reflection. Its focus will primarily be on strategies that involve atmospheric interventions, including marine cloud brightening, stratospheric aerosol injection, and cirrus cloud modification. The MacArthur-supported study will investigate the work that is already ongoing as well as potential consequences of further strategies for sunlight reflection.
